We’ll start the day driving along Rio de Janeiro beaches towards the west-end of town crossing São Conrado neighborhood surrounded by mountains and the beach and then Barra da Tijuca and Recreio neighborhoods on a road between the lagoon and the ocean.
At the end of the road a true jewel located inside an environmentally protected area and surrounded by mountains covered with lush vegetation is waiting for us. Macumba, Prainha and Grumari beaches are the most well-kept secret of Rio.
After sunbathing and swimming at these beaches we may have lunch at a typical seafood restaurant situated at the mountain top enjoying the stunning view of Guaratiba Bay mangrove area.
Depending on the weather and sea conditions, the tour may be extended to reach even more secluded beaches. Nearby there is a sequence of 4 beaches (Perigoso, Meio, Funda and Inferno beaches) reachable only by boat.
These beaches are almost deserted because there’s no car access. Over there the Atlantic Forest vegetation reaches the sand, and it’s quite common to find no one at all at the beach.
